In Atlanta, tennis isn't just a sport; it's a way of life!   That could easily explain whyAtlanta is a top ten finalist in the USTA's Best Tennis Town search.   
The USTA’s Best Tennis Town contest is looking for the community that best exemplifies the passion, excitement, community spirit and impact tennis brings to members of the community.  Atlantans, along with the rest of the country, can place their vote for the best tennis town from July 16-26 by visiting Best Tennis Town website. 
The winner will receive $100,000 to be used for community wide programming or facility enhancements.  The runner-up prizes are $50,000 and $25,000.  Winners will be announced at the 2010 US Open.

In Atlanta, over 250,000 recreational tennis players play on more than 10,000 tennis courts at more than 1,800 tennis facilities. ALTA is the largest league in the country with 80,000 participants.  USTA adult and junior leagues account for more than 50,000 players.  And more than 60,000 play in various flex leagues.  Atlanta is home to terrific college tennis, including Georgia Tech, Emory, Morehouse and Georgia State.  Atlanta offers diverse programs for Special Pops and Wheelchair tennis players. Be sure to watch the Atlanta Best Tennis Town video to learn more about our great city!
