A 39-year-old man was shot and killed during a Monday night robbery in the parking lot of a Virginia Highland apartment building.
Charles Boyer was shot several times shortly before 10 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Virginia Avenue, according to Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones.
Jones said that Boyer and Lisa McGraw had been out for drinks and had stopped at a nearby convenience store before driving to the Virginia Avenue apartments or some call it Trolley Square Crossing were McGraw lived.
According to Jones, McGraw told police that shortly after getting out of the car, “she felt a gun on her head” as two or three masked men “requested that she give up her apartment keys and walk to her apartment.”
As they approached the apartment, Boyer ran from the suspects, and McGraw “ran in the opposite direction and jumped over a neighbor’s balcony seeking help,” Jones said. “McGraw stated she heard several gunshots as she ran away.”
Police found Boyer dead in front of one of the apartment buildings.
The suspects took McGraw’s purse and cell phone and were seen leaving in what witnesses described as a dark-colored sports utility vehicle.
